Permaculture as the guiding framework

Cabiokid’s mission is to provide ideas, promote do-able actions and induce creative solutions towards sustainable development. To achieve this, the site uses permaculture as the guiding framework, and prioritizes the youth and marginal sectors of the society as its target beneficiaries.

Cabiokid offers regular trainings on permaculture. These are two 3-7 day courses. Our permaculture courses are broken up into two parts. The first part will be conducted at Cabiokid, while the seconc part will be conducted at the site of the participants. For those who have limited time the course can be customized. Likewise, tailor made courses are offered through its pool of experienced resource persons. Cabiokid staff has been given trainings on waste management, human resource management and Ecological architecture and construction.

Shaping the environment

creating waterways in the cabiokid landscape

Cabiokid accepts working students who will work with our staff for a limited period of time. The program will be organised in coordination with the management of Cabiokid. Another program responds to individuals, who are willing to work with us during longer periods of time. Proper recognition will be given to all those who complete their study and stay at the farm.

In November 2006, Cabiokid launched Ekolaro, an integrated program for children aged 8-12 from the neighboring barangay Sta Rita. The program has been scheduled every Saturday and promises to offer insights, learnings and creative play for children on themes which will be relevant to their situation and to the benefits of the family and the community.

Cabiokid has started a joint venture for the productive development of lands. This venture is a cooperation between Cabiokid foundation, Happy Earth inc and the Center for Ecozoic Living and Learning (CELL). The three organisations have started the PINTIG Sustainable Land Development (PLSD) inc, which will spearhead the move to develop lands according to local human needs and by considering issues of sustainability and productivity. The recent plan to acquire a 4ha property, adjacent to Cabiokid, paves the way to pilot the PINTIG project and to create a sustainable human habitat with and within the surrounding farm lands. A design and development plan will be made for the land, which will correspond with the existing and neighboring Cabiokid landscape.
